For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Boating Botanist is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

Depending on how you interact with Boating Botanist, the following may be collected:

Billing address
Country of residence
Information relating to your workshop booking
Any messages or enquiries you send me
Payment information
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Boating Botanist does not receive or store your full payment card details.
Information collected automatically
When you visit this website, limited technical information may be collected, such as:

Browser type
Time zone
Device information
Some of the installed cookies on your device
Additionally, as you browse the site, information may be collected about the individual web pages or products you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the site, and how you interact with the site.
2. How your information is used
I use your personal data only where necessary to:
process your workshop booking;
send booking confirmations and workshop information;
provide Zoom access details;
communicate about changes or cancellations;
respond to your enquiries;
comply with legal and accounting obligations;
improve my website and services;
send newsletters or updates if you have chosen to receive them.
I will never sell your personal information.
3. My legal basis for processing
Under the GDPR, I process personal data on one or more of the following legal grounds:
Performance of a contract – to provide the workshop you have booked.
Legal obligation – for example, keeping financial records for tax purposes.
Legitimate interests – to operate and improve my business and communicate with participants.

You may withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
4. Sharing your information
I only share your personal information where necessary to operate my business. This may include trusted service providers such as:
Stripe – to process payments.
Zoom – to deliver live online workshops.
My website hosting provider – to operate my website.
My email service provider – to send booking confirmations, workshop information and, where you have subscribed, newsletters.
These providers process information on my behalf and are required to handle it securely and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
I do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. How long your information is kept
I keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to:
provide my services;
maintain business records;
comply with legal and tax obligations;
resolve disputes;
protect my legal rights.
Accounting records may be retained for the period required under Dutch law. Marketing information will be retained until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove it.

I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. While no online service can guarantee absolute security, I work with reputable service providers and follow good security practices.

This website contains links to other websites that are not owned or controlled by Boating Botanist. Please be aware that I am not responsible for other websites or third parties' privacy practices. I encourage you to be aware when you leave this website and read the privacy statements of each website that may collect personal information.
Additionally, please note that your information might be transferred outside of Europe when placing a booking through this website.

This website may use cookies to help it function properly and to understand how visitors use the site. Where required by law, you will be asked for your consent before non-essential cookies are placed on your device.

Information collected, used or received may be disclosed if required or permitted by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process, and when Boating Botanist believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect my rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in my services or legal obligations. The most recent version will always be published on my website.
