Refund and cancellation policy

Introduction

Plans change; that's part of life. And it's why I want Boating Botanist's cancellation policy to be fair to both participants and my small business. While I aim for a spirit of flexibility, I hope participants understand that when they book one of my live creative workshops, I reserve a place specifically for them. For this reason, cancellations close to the workshop date can have a significant impact.

1. Cancelling your booking

You may cancel your booking up to 7 days before the scheduled workshop date and receive a full refund. To request a cancellation, please contact me at boatingbotanist@gmail.com. Your refund will be made using the original payment method where possible.

2. Cancellations within 7 days of the workshop

If you cancel less than 7 days before the workshop begins, refunds are not normally available. This is because I have already committed time, preparation and resources to delivering the workshop and I may not be able to offer your place to another participant at short notice.

If exceptional circumstances apply, you are welcome to contact me. I will consider requests individually, but any refund, credit or transfer offered outside this policy is at my discretion.

3. Not attending the workshop

If you do not attend the live workshop, no refund will normally be provided.

4. Changing to another workshop date

At present, bookings are made for a specific workshop date and are not automatically transferable. If you are unable to attend, you may contact me and I will consider whether a transfer to another available workshop is possible. Any transfer is subject to availability and is offered at my discretion.

5. Tiered pricing and refunds

My workshops use a tiered pricing model to help make creative experiences accessible to as wide an audience as possible. All pricing tiers provide the same workshop experience, content and access. If a refund is issued, it will be based on the amount actually paid at the time of booking. Choosing a higher or lower pricing tier does not affect your cancellation rights.

6. Cancellation by me

Although I, of course, aim to deliver every scheduled event, circumstances outside my control may mean I sometimes need to postpone or cancel a session or a course.

If I cancel a workshop or course, you will be offered either:

• a refund for the affected sessions or course;

• the option to transfer your booking to another available workshop or course.

I will contact you about any changes as soon as reasonably possible to discuss new arrangements.

7. Technical problems

My workshops are delivered live online using Zoom, so the occasional glitch is possible. If significant technical problems on my side prevent me from delivering a session as planned, I will make every reasonable effort to provide a suitable solution, which may include:

• providing access to a pre-recorded version of the workshop to registered participants only;

• rescheduling the live workshop;

• providing a refund for the affected session where neither of the above options is appropriate.

I am not responsible for technical problems caused by your own equipment, internet connection or device.

8. Statutory consumer rights

My workshops are live creative leisure activities that take place on specific dates and times. Under applicable consumer law, certain leisure services provided on a specific date or during a specific period may be excluded from the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Where such an exemption applies, your right to cancel is governed by this Refund & Cancellation Policy. Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.

9. How refunds are processed

Approved refunds will normally be processed within 10 business days. Refunds are returned through the original payment method used at checkout. Payments made through Stripe are subject to Stripe’s payment processing procedures.
